Are School Districts becoming Dependent on decadent christmas decorations?

Talk about Pay to Play. This is definitely a purchase necessary. Let's spend as much money on decoration made in China, powered by dirty coal to unethically fund our school district. Why don't they have a contest where the citizen donates the most amount of time volunteering at a soup kitchen, or at a facility/camp for children with disabilities. Or Visiting a Senior citizens residence.Your free to cast your opinions on mine, but it's not going to change mine in the least bit. I see this contest & think; Just when a holiday founded on various pagan holidays that had nothing to do with Christianity could lose any more integrity. I believe that if Jesus were alive today & saw the decadence & ridiculous lights he would say" What are you tripping on?" I'd base the contest on the house with the least amount of carbon footprint, and most innovative way to illustrate that they care for their neighbors by protecting the impressionable youth's perception of the Winter Solstice in a more honorable method. Don't forget U.S. Troops left their families after the holidays earlier then expected two years ago to assist Haiti relief after the devastating earthquake. Were the deployed troops (in the devastated surroundings) thinking & wishing they could be home in a ridiculous house of lights during a tough economic environment? Money should be allocated to inspire our future generations based on core values dedicated to reaching out & doing good to others like our brave Troops in Haiti. {Here's The Article: http://longbeach.patch.com/articles/deck-your-house-and-win-100-000-for-long-beach-public-schools )
